The South Korean fishing vessel 55 Daesung with 7 crew members on board was seized by the North’s navy on August 8.
VLADIVOSTOK. September 7. VOSTOK-MEDIA – North Korea said Monday it would release seven crew members of the South Korean fishing vessel 55 Daesung that was seized by the North’s navy in August for violation of maritime borders.
The crew of the fishing boat, which was intercepted August 8 allegedly for “illegal fishing operation after intruding into the economic waters of the north side”, consisted of four South Koreans and three Chinese.
Pyongyang agreed to send the boat and its crew back to South Korea after they made a pledge to never intrude the North’s waters again, North Korean Central News Agency reported.
