Emission of Greenhouse Gases Increased in Japan

Emission volumes exceeded governmental standards and those set up in Kyoto protocol by 15%

VLADIVOSTOK. 11 Novemebr. VOSTOK-MEDIA. 2007 saw 2% increased emissions of greenhouse gases in Japan comparing to last year. This rate has exceeded the governmental standards by 15%.
According to recent data, prepared by Japanese government, emission of greenhouse gases I Japan in 2007 has compounded 1 billion 370 million tones. This is more by 8% than in 1990.
In the framework of Kyoto protocol Japan committed to be decreasing emission by 6% in comparison with 1990 during a 5 year period (2008-2012). Given the trend going on, Japan is unlikely to reach the set goals. Government says emission increased after a brake in the work of the atomic power station in Niigata because of the earthquake.
