VLADIVOSTOK. 5 August. VOSTOK-MEDIA. First time a sailer with a Jolly Roger on the yards moored in Vladivostok. Roger flag is fluttering on the sailing boat “Guayas” (MNF Ecuador). Ecuadorian say that the flag became symbolic and very traditional for the crew because the boat sailed with it on many seas and oceans and it has nothing to do with the piracy.
Before calling to Vladivostok, sailer has been to Latin and North America, Mexico, Canada and Japan, though in Vladivostok they are for the first time.
Crew is multinational. Officers of the Military Naval Force come from different countries but those where their boat has been to. Crew is 140 members including 35 sea cadets doing practice. Soon they all will become the sea officers.
Visitors were amused by the anthem sung by all crew members. When according to the ritual orchestra of the PF started to play the Ecuadorian anthem crew picked up the melody singing the anthem at the top of their voice. Everyone could feel the unity of the crew and love to their motherland.
Sailer “Guayas” is tree mast vessel, built in Spain 35 years ago. In spite of the fact that vessel looks slightly exotic it has nice traveling ability and ship characteristics.
Commanding officer of the vessel is Freddy Garcia Koll, the Commodore. He welcomed visitors and asked all to come on Saturday when the vessel will be open for visiting and said that Ecuadorian hospitability is sincere just the same.
