VLADIVOSTOK. 31 July. VOSTOK-MEDIA. July, 31, 1899, “Primorskie Vedomosti” published a report of Vladivostok Community of Hunters. By that time Community had celebrated its 10th anniversary counting 60 present and 7 honoured members. They hunted for wolves and migrating birds; woodcocks could be hunted almost on the outskirts of Vladivostok.
July, 31, 1905 – Russian garrison surrendered to Japanese soldiers.
July, 31, 1918 is a foundation day of Krasnoznamennii Far Eastern Military District. On that day Red Army battalions of Ussuriyskiy front defeated intervenes and White Army forces in blood battles at the bar of Kaylskiy, Shmakovka and Spassk. Changed its name several times during the XX century, Far Eastern Military District succeeded to Priamurskiy Military District.
July, 31, 1939, Military Department of Vladivostok City Committee of the All-Union Communist Bolshevist Party started its activities in the same year having reestablished military circles on many factories and plants. For only 1 month 11 377 members gained jettons of Air Defence and Chemical Protection.
July, 31, 1956, CC of USSR decided to develop communal housing ((“Khrushchovka” housing).

1962 – at the Pan African Women Conference in Dar-Es-Salam (Tanzania) this day was called the Day of African Women.
1928 – First time at the backdrop of Cinema Studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer was shown a roaring lion. It was the first sound film of Cinema Studio “White Shadows of Southern Sea”. It amuses that the longest sound in the film was a lion roar and it said only “Hello!”.
