5 Countries in Primorye Open-2008

VLADIVOSTOK. 17 July. VOSTOK-MEDIA. Tennis players from Russia, the USA, Vietnam, Australia and Japan will contest for the Cup “Primorye Open – 2008” of the Primorsky Krai’s Governor at the International Tennis Competition. It was discussed at the organizing meeting of the Physical Culture and Sports Department.
Tournament welcomes women from 25 and men from 45 years and on playing in doubles mix. Competition bases on the Olympic system – 32 pairs contesting for all medal places: 5 pairs from abroad, 5 more are recommended by the Russian Federation of Tennis, 6 pairs represent the Far Eastern Federal Region and 16 are from Primorye.
The First International Tennis Competition will take place on July, 23-27 and was initiated by the Governor of Primorsky Krai, Sergey Darkin. “Our Krai has definitely become a communicative stage where different cultures of the Eastern and European countries integrate together. Sports is a cultural dialog and tool of strengthening the international friendship”, - assured Sergey Darkin. To his mind, such events promote the regional and Russian sports and strengthen sports ties between Primorye and countries of the Pacific Rim.
The organizing meeting pointed out that preparation of the place for the tournament is on schedule. We recall, the tennis tournament is held in the suburbs of Vladivostok on the resorts LLC “Kort” – the “Sedanka” station and resort “Sadgorod”. In case of rain the tournament will be moved to the sports complex “Champion”.
